Friday workout and DATE.

Friday I just did grippers, I didn't have lots of time because I WENT ON A DATE WITH MY WIFE. Yeehaw.

I did set a PR right before I went out though I closed the Ironmind Captains of Crush #2 gripper with my right hand so that is way cool.

We went to a little jazz bar just to find out the jazz band had stoped playing, so we walked over to Lizards Lounge and had drink, then we walked to the Prescott Brewery I had a wonderfull breadbowl filled with an artichoke dip and Barb had some fried artichoke hearts.
The crowd was a little snooty in the brewery, damn out-of-towners, I can say that now that I am a local. So we walked up and down Whiskey Row just listening to the music wafting out of the different bars. It was darn cold, in the low 50's, so we headed back to Lizard Lounge and just sat there for a little while.

We headed back home and as we were driving up the little hill we live on ( wich connects to another hill wich connects to the open spaces behind Prescott Valley )I spotted 2 deer buck maybe 4 pointers each on the right side of the road, well I was totally focused on these deer and Barb noticed the rest of the heard on the left side of the road. Several doe and fawns, I lost count at 7 because they were heading out under the fence back up the hill.
A perfect way to end the date.

I am going to take my little kettlebell with me to Phoenix and do some H2H stuff this weekend while we work on the house.

Rainy day

I got to sleep in today, when I woke up the windows were open, it is raining, nice. My blood sugar is on the border of normal/pre-diabetic instead of on the border or pre-diabetic/diabetic.
I have got that good soreness going on from lifting, and it is 63 degrees ( perfect for me ).
And I can look across the little valley we live on top of and see the clouds falling over the crest of the mountains like a cosmic waterfall.
I swear the older I get the more the little things mean more to me.

Home

First and foremost, thank all of ya'll in blogland for your kind words they were greatly appreciated.

OK I am home at last with the kids, Barb will come up on Wednesday. This whole ordeal has taught us some valuable lessons. Like one income is not enough!
We need back up plans 'cuz next will be her mom or my parents. My folks are really sick, my dad has smoked since he was 14 and he will not stop. He has advanced lung disease and he is going to go out one gasp at a time, my mom has unregulated diabetes. And my mother-in-law has a history of cancer she is a 2 time survivor.
So we are reconsidering living in Prescott at least for a while, I am thinking about going to a school for motorcycle mechanics. I really like Harley's, I want to build myself and Barb a couple, and Barb likes them as much as I do.
It seems like a perfect fit on paper, I would go to school during the week, Barb would work weekends, then when I graduated we would kep the same schedule.
Only if I could get benifits Barb might cut back to 2 days a week wich would help her state of being burnt out immensely.
Just a plan in progress we will see how it turns out.

On the health front I was going to knock my workouts down to maintenace level for a while and whenever I got a chance to unwind I would head out to a watering hole.

WEEEEELLLL I was feeling particularly bad one day so I took my blood sugar in the morning after a 12 hour fast..............pre-diabetes, yup pre-diabetes.

So I cut out all heavily processed carbohydrates, added some really good fats in my diet ( Salmon and Avacados ) instant drop in fasting glucose and bigger drop in post meal glucose levels.
The ADA recomends a 10-20% drop in body weight to combat the effects of pre-diabetes, about another 30 lbs to loose and I should be mostly out of the woods, then I need to gradually get down to my goal weight, so dieting ( ugh ) running and lots and lots of kettlebell swings are in my immediate future!!!
