When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ball-point pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat this problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion developing a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside-down, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 300 C. The Russians used a pencil. This is a perfect analogy for the kettlebell.

if i were to do that the ball would go between my legs and the i would wind up doing a summersault and i haven't done that in like 20-25 years....and even then i think i remember it hurting my head. :/
The swing is the foundation of all Kb excersizes, if I would have found kbs when I played football I would have been a starter not second string. The swing strengthens your posterior chain, ( hammies, calves, back ) wich mostly responsible for athletic performance.
PS, I swung a 106 lb kb at a fitness facility once to see if I could get it to eye level, I got it to chest and when it went down it did pull me off balance and almost ended in disaster... LOL
