Rif or Christine
Is there any way to do board presses without a partner. Those bench press lockouts RULED. I wanna try board presses next heavy day!!!
When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ball-point pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat this problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion developing a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside-down, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 300 C. The Russians used a pencil. This is a perfect analogy for the kettlebell.

Not safely, at least in my opinion. You need someone there to keep the board from moving when the bar touches your chest.
The only alternative I can think of is to use a JS Band to secure the board to your chest... but still-- you're working with weight over your desired max... not safe without a spotter.
As a matter of fact, I never bench without a spot. Ever.
But I'm a silly girl ;)
yeah, you can use bungy cords to hold the boards but you have to be careful as its easy to go too heavy and if you have no spotter....
dont use collars.
Rif!! Don't use collars, LOL. It took me a minute to figure that out, but I get it. That would suck to be stuck under a bar!!!!!
Christine I wish to hell I ha d a lifting partner but my schedule is just so damn sporadic. Lifting at 8am one day then midnight the next.
Also i was thinking I could set the saftey pins in a squat rack BELOW the boards. But loosing control of weight like that could probably end a career. So maybe I just stick to partials off the pins.
That Mr. Rif, he's so damn smart! :)
Yeah, don't use the collars so you can dump the weight.
I guess I'm spoiled with the training partner situation. Plus, I'm particularly female about my training... not a meathead bencher, so anything I might drop on my head earns me a spot.
The other alternative is to set the pins in the rack one lower and use a rolled up carpet (check elite they have pics) instead of the board, that'd be easier to remove if you lost the weight, and then you could wiggle your way out. But like the board press, you're still getting the feel of the weight on your chest.
But ultimately, whatever Rif suggests I'd go with. He's quickly becoming my powerlifting swami. :)
Oh and by the way, I'm absolutely tickled pink that I got put in a question with Rif, but I'm not deserving-- at all.
do 'em in a rack
