Sickening stuff.
Most of the times I keep my political and religious opinions to myself simply because they are contoversial and after 22 years of being a Jehovahs Witness I have absolutely no desire to shove my opinion down anyones throat or have theirs shoved down mine.
Watch the video, americans did not die in the explosion but they have in similiar ones. Our sons and daughters are dieing over there.
Here is where I have a serious problem, I don't think it's just for oil although that is a big part of it.
In 1948 the US helped train and outfit the Isreali nation to fight a war of independance, thus putting them at odds with the muslim nation.
Let me be clear I an not pro radical islam espscially the ones that claim this is the 3rd great jihad and it's gods will that they rule the world. They and their gods better stay the hell off US soil. Nor am I anti-semite. I find jewish culture really cool.
But i believe that all US presidents have been rapture christians and believe an independat free Isreal is required for the rapture to occur. Wich means if I'm right ( and most people who read this will call bullshit on it as most people do ) the US started the religious war with the muslims.
My solution, get the hell outta Isreal. Do over the course of a few years. Give citizen-ship to any jewish citizens wanting to leave before US support is withdrawn. That is only fair.
Next get off foriegn oil, switch to hydrogen. Yes I know it won't solve global warming without a "green" way to manufacture it. As of now we don't have a way to do it on a massive scale. Fine use non-green ways to manufacture it and have the oil industry do it. That way the political/financial powers that be will still get to keep their money and look like heros in the process.
We ain't gunna win over there, might as well try to make US a muslim theocracy. And if shit gets real dicey China will step in and that's a whole 'nuther scary scenario.

Can't say I agree with you. Things are too volatile in Isreal. If we get out of Isreal, they will get worse not better. The fact that we support Isreal has lead to their very existence. Without our protection and aid they would perish.
Religious views aside, they have a right to exist, just like we do. I wish we could all get along (muslim vs. Infidels) but that is not a reality. Muslims want to rule the world and force ISLAM on people. Either people believe in Allah or they die.
Yeah pretty much the opinion I get from most people. It's cool though Franz. I respect your opinion and would fight for your right to have it.
Like i said in the beggining of my post most people don't agree with my socio/religious views. Guess I'm somewhat of an opinionated odd duck in that way.
It really boils down to whether we want to promote our values throughout the world or just defend our country. The nation of Israel requires its own land, and if we want an ally in that region, we need to help them protect that land and weaken their enemies.
I agree that if the USA would stay true to national defense and strengthen itself by becoming more insular and protective, we'd all benefit as citizens for a time. But for how long?
The Muslim rhetoric is very strong and very clear. Like Franz said, the choice with Islam is either join or die. Or become a servant with no rights. It's a dangerous ideology and against everything that makes America a free country.
Christians did not start this war. If anything, it was between the Jews and the Muslims before that. But the Jews were here first, the Christians later and then the Muslims showed up even later, with no tolerance for anything but their way of thinking. From the beginning, it was "convert or die" with no option for personal conscience or disagreement.
I have no affinity for religion, personally, but I believe Muslim thought is the worst by far. There is no regard for freedom and very little regard for human life, knowledge or tolerance.
I see two options: (1) continue with the world-policing and stretch our resources too thin, or (2) become insular, really damn strong, and nuke the hell out of any group that messes with us. Option (2) would probably calm things down a lot for us in the USA, for a time, but we'd probably end up nuking somebody eventually.
It's a mess, no doubt, but Muslim thought is the source of this crap, our own terrible leadership notwithstanding.
Royce,
that is what makes this country so kick ass! We can differ in oppinon and live to talk about it. Try doing that in Iran and Saudi Arabia and it's Chop-Chop square for you (that means off with you head - not too nice)!
Aaron,
I agree with you that we may be stretching ourselves to thin, probably already are. But when you have the freedom, liberty and blessing that the USA has, I feel that it is our responisiblity to stand up to the thugs of the world who commit geneocide and kill innocent people for no good reason. Someone has to stand up for what is right, and although not always in our best national interest, at the end of the day, what does our conscience say. Wrong is wrong, and evil is evil, if we do not stand up against it, who will?
Great and very important topic of conversation gentlemen!
Royce,
I've got to agree with you on this one. I remember reading a story around the time that G.W. was first elected. He was sitting next to his mother in church on Sunday, hearing a sermon on Esther where she was told by Mordecai that she may have come to be queen "for such a time as this" in order to save the Hebrew nation.
According to the news story, G.W. and his mom looked at each other and she told him that this was him for this time. He agreed. Even when Laura decorated the oval office, the rug has rays of light emanating from his desk.
For quite awhile, presidents have used the metaphor of a city set on hill to represent the United States. While I do believe that God was involved in establishing this country, when this biblical image is applied to us, then suddenly we have become "God's Army" to subdue the world. I believe that the reason that God opened the "new world" was to have a place where everyone had the freedom of choice to worship Him OR NOT as they decided.
Some Christians, many of whom do ascribe to the futurism view, of the history of the world and the return of Jesus, are the ones who have the belief that they are called to take the world for Him, by force if necessary.
I'd write more, with texts from the Bible that support what you are saying, but I don't want to write a book here or anything.
