Ah, I get it

So I was trying to figure out why the old classic PL split was monday squat wed bench fri deadlift sat light bench. It seemed like chest was getting hit twice a week quads once and hammies once.
I mean shouldn't you have on heavy and one light day for squat ( quads ) and the same for hammies.
Judging by where I'm sore at today the power squat is a hammies, glute, and HIP excersize with some quad activation to boot. DL are mostly posterior chain so in a way it is a light and heavy day. The world is in order, everything is alright now. ( the things I obssese on sheesh!! )

the squat and the dl work almost exactly the same muscles with the lower back being the ultimate limitator of each.

so its two back,hip, leg days and two upper body days.Usually if you train your squat heavy you dont train your dl so heavy.

you can get a good dl from just squatting but not the other way around.

its all about the back hips and abs boss, for the two real lifts, and shoulders, triceps and lats for the one you lay down and do,lol.

LOL Rif that's funny. Hips it is for sure, the sorest part of me today is my hips

I swear I get half my deadlift on my abs.

There are some meets coming up here in or after the summer. I am just going to suck it up and do one before school starts in Oct. low total and all :-)

yeah being strong and getting stronger IS serious good fun, but you have to have the right character flaws to really love it. :))

and yes ,is it christine?, my abs did tons of my squat and dl but I have a very short spine. Royce is going to be 'arch boy'. glutes erectors and quads

Royce have you tried sumo dl yet? you might check it out, you might find dls much more fun!

I'll try sumo's Friday. I already pull a little less wide than my squat stance. Short arms make me bend down FAR. LOL

I used to lift conventional DL, but it kind of stalled, a kind soul in the gym had me switch to sumos. Be warned... you're gonna be walking funny for the first couple days afterwards, Sumos seem to recruit muscles unkown to you until the morning after. ;)

And just sign up for a meet and go for it! "low total" pshaw! It gives you something to build on. You're gonna be addicted. I can tell already.

LOL, cool thanks. I'm actually pretty comfortable with my DL form. But if Rif says something I am damn sure going to listen.
